Dollywood Crowned ‘America’s Favorite Theme Park’ for Third Year

May 28, 2025

Dollywood has once again captured the hearts of theme park lovers across the nation, earning the title of America’s Favorite Theme Park for the third year in a row. The recognition comes from the National Amusement Park Historical Association’s 39th annual survey, and it places the Smoky Mountains gem ahead of legendary destinations like Disneyland and Walt Disney World. For many, this isn’t just a win for the park—it’s a celebration of authenticity, hospitality, and the power of a place deeply rooted in Appalachian culture.

Unlike parks that rely on towering IPs and flashy spectacle, Dollywood draws its magic from the spirit of its namesake, Dolly Parton. Since its founding in 1986, the park has grown into a vibrant, immersive experience that blends thrilling rides with homegrown charm. Guests don’t just come for the coasters—they come for the atmosphere. From live bluegrass and traditional craft demonstrations to mouthwatering Southern cuisine, every inch of Dollywood feels like a warm welcome home.

The park’s rise to national prominence hasn’t gone unnoticed in recent years. Tripadvisor has twice named Dollywood the No. 1 theme park in the U.S., and it continues to rack up Golden Ticket Awards for everything from best food to friendliest staff. In 2023, Dollywood unveiled Big Bear Mountain, a family-style launched coaster that added excitement without losing the park’s signature warmth. The following year, it announced plans for a stunning indoor adventure attraction that will take guests on a mythic journey through the Great Smoky Mountains, opening in 2026.

But perhaps what makes Dollywood so beloved is the way it continues to honor its roots while growing for the future. As Dolly Parton reflected during the park’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2025, “On opening day in 1986, I was just hoping that people would really want to come visit a theme park with my name on it. And even though I always try to dream big, I’ll admit I was a little bit nervous that first morning.” That blend of humility and heart is what continues to define the Dollywood experience. “I’m so proud to see that Dollywood has continued to grow through the years to become a place of fun and togetherness for everyone who has come to visit,” she added. In every ride, show, and smile, that original hope still echoes—and clearly, the nation has answered it with a resounding yes.

Dollywood isn’t just a theme park. It’s a love letter to East Tennessee, a place where visitors of all ages can slow down, make memories, and feel like they’re part of something special. Winning the top honor three years in a row is no small feat—but for anyone who’s walked under the Wildwood Tree or ridden a coaster with the mountains on the horizon, it makes perfect sense.
